Brad Lakin is the President of The Lakin Law Firm in Wood River, Illinois. The Lakin Law Firm is dedicated to providing information and legal representation to the victims of nursing home neglect and abuse, as well as to the families of victims.
Brad Lakin’s passion about elder neglect and abuse was ignited when his wife’s great aunt, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, was not properly tended to in a nursing home. Although she was supposed to be in a special Alzheimer’s unit, and there was supposed to be an alarm on the door, she got out. When the staff finally looked for her, she was found on the ground 100 feet outside the facility, had fallen, and had suffered a brain injury. Although she lived, she became confined to a wheelchair and her quality of life suffered. Fortunately, through The Lakin Law Firm’s efforts, she was able to afford to move to a different nursing home for the remainder of her life.
